Things you should know
The Cartier Cristallor , introduced in the early to mid-1970s, is a bold and exceptionally rare wristwatch that stands apart from Cartier's iconic Tank. Its triple-stepped bezel, octagonal case, hidden lugs, and generous proportions capture the essence of 1970s design while showcasing Cartier's daring departure from traditional forms. Produced in limited numbers—fewer than 1,000 units—it remained in the collection until the mid-1980s, with availability in white and yellow gold across two sizes: reference 78095 (smaller) and 78096 (larger).
This example belongs to the later production series, identifiable by a modernized "Cartier" signature with a refined "A," a discreet hidden signature at 7 o’clock, and traditional lugs replacing the center screw lugs of the first generation. The signature "Swiss" at 6 o'clock should signify that the watch has been sold through Cartier New York instead of Cartier Paris or London that can be found with the "Paris" signature at six o'clock.
The watch is in excellent vintage condition, with a strong case retaining its original proportions. While it has been polished in the past, all engravings remain remarkably crisp, including the delicate "18k Swiss" mark near the crown, which is often polished away due to its shallow engraving. This preservation reflects a careful history of ownership and respect for the watch's originality.
The dial exhibits a "spider web" effect—a natural feature that occurred on lacquer dials of the era—which adds a layer of charm and authenticity. The spidering is subtle, visible primarily under strong lighting, and otherwise blends seamlessly into the dial’s overall aesthetic. A minor, nearly imperceptible stain between the "V" marker and the edge of the dial further emphasizes its honest, unaltered condition.
Accompanied by a generic strap and an original Cartier gold-plated buckle, this watch represents a rare opportunity to own a meticulously preserved example of Cartier’s adventurous design ethos. All key components—the dial, movement, and case—are signed by Cartier, ensuring its authenticity and collectible value.
Each watch is accompanied by a 1-year mechanical warranty, providing coverage for all its components starting from the date of purchase. Furthermore, prior to being showcased for online sale, every watch undergoes a thorough overhaul by our watchmaker, guaranteeing its optimal condition.
Certainly, the warranty extends specifically to cover wear and tear of the movement. It's important to note that damages resulting from misuse or accidental incidents will not fall under the protection of the warranty.
It's essential to bear in mind that all the watches are over 20 years old. Consequently, while they offer unique charm and character, you should understand that they may not exhibit the same precision as modern watches.
Our utmost priority is your satisfaction with your purchase. Consequently, irrespective of your location, we cover the shipping expenses. While all shipping expenses are covered, duties and import taxes are solely your responsibility.
Every shipment is fully insured and will be delivered through DHL Express or another reputable shipping company with whom we have a partnership, ensuring coverage of the total price of the watch for a secure and reliable shipping experience.
