This Cartier Panthère Ref. 183949 is in excellent condition, showcasing its timeless elegance with only a few signs of wear. The case remains sharp and robust, with some superficial scratches that attest to its authenticity and gentle use. The bevels are well-preserved and prominent, which is a key feature of this model. While the rear of the lugs displays minor marks from the bracelet, this is quite typical for watches that have been enjoyed, and it does not detract from the overall integrity. Light scratches on the interior of the lugs are also present but do not affect functionality or aesthetic.
A particularly rare feature is the presence of the original red paint within the engravings on the caseback. This detail is often lost over time, due to regular wear.
The dial and hands are in superb condition. The hands retain their vibrant blue hue, contrasting beautifully with the dial, and show no signs of oxidation. The dial itself has developed a subtle and even patina, shifting to a light cream tone. Uncommonly, the patina is evenly distributed, avoiding the darkening around the edges often seen in similar models. This even coloration enhances the charm of the dial, while the Roman numerals and lettering remain crisp and deeply saturated, ensuring readability and aesthetic appeal.
The bracelet is another highlight of this piece, being in excellent condition with minimal stretch and very few scratches, maintaining the structural integrity expected of a well-cared-for Cartier.
All essential elements—the case, dial, and movement—are signed by Cartier, ensuring authenticity. The crystal is in near-perfect condition, free from noticeable scratches, and the watch benefits from a recent battery replacement.
