Things you should know
This is a vintage Omega Seamaster, reference 166.003, from circa 1966, presented in excellent aesthetic condition. Its most compelling feature is its rare and highly sought-after "telephone dial."
The 34mm stainless steel case, while having been polished, retains its original proportions and the defined facets on its lugs. It shows some minor superficial scratches and dings which are consistent with, and even better than average for, a watch of its age. The caseback is in excellent condition, with the iconic Seamaster hippocampus logo and its original factory finish well-preserved. The watch is fitted with its original Omega-signed crown and its original Omega-signed plexiglass crystal, identified by the small logo etched in the center.
The dial is what makes this timepiece particularly special. It is a "telephone dial" configuration, featuring applied Arabic numerals at every hour marker, a design reminiscent of a vintage rotary phone. The dial has a silver sunburst finish and is in perfect condition, with an applied Omega logo and crisp, black printed text that provides excellent contrast. The hands show some minor signs of oxidation but are in very good condition, featuring a central black inlay for enhanced legibility.
Powering the watch is the robust Omega Caliber 565 automatic movement. It is fitted on an aftermarket brown leather strap.
