Things you should know
This Universal Genève Unisonic Ref. 852100-01, produced around 1970, represents a bold and forward-thinking era in watchmaking when the brand embraced electronic tuning fork technology. Powered by the Caliber 1-52, derived from the Bulova Accutron, this movement is known for its smooth, sweeping seconds hand and signature humming operation—offering a unique tactile and visual experience unlike traditional quartz or mechanical watches.
The stainless steel case remains in very good aesthetic condition. It has been polished in the past, but retains its distinctive, sharp-edged geometry, which is still clearly appreciable. A rare detail is the presence of the originally shallow engravings on the case back, including the reference and micro-serial number, which are still visible—something often lost during overpolishing.
The case shows some superficial scratches and minor dents, consistent with normal wear, but nothing that compromises its appeal. The crown is original and correct for the model.
The plexiglass crystal is original and signed Universal Genève, with the logo at the center. It shows some light surface marks but remains clear and fully legible.
The dial is in excellent condition, with a beautiful light cream patina that adds warmth and depth. The lume on both the indices and hands has aged consistently to a soft, creamy tone, perfectly matching the dial. The black print of the Universal Genève and Unisonic logos remains sharp and vibrant, offering strong contrast against the dial background.
The watch is sold on a non-original strap with a non-original buckle, but the integrity and authenticity of the watch itself—case, movement, dial, crystal, and crown—are fully intact.
With its unique movement, elegant proportions, and untouched charm, this Universal Genève Unisonic is a great opportunity to own a piece of horological innovation from the golden age of Swiss electronic watchmaking.
