The Condition Report

This Rolex Datejust, reference 1601, presents a refined and monochromatic aesthetic, centered around its distinctive matte black dial. The matte texture provides a deep, non-reflective surface that serves as a perfect backdrop for the white gold indexes.

This specific dial is a "Sigma" variant, identified by the small Greek letters at the 6 o'clock position. This marking indicates that the hour markers and hands are crafted from solid 18k white gold, a hallmark of quality for this production period. The luminous tritium plots on the dial and the lume in the hands have aged with remarkable consistency, showing a perfect color match that affirms the watch’s aesthetic integrity.

The 36mm stainless steel case is topped with a white gold fluted bezel. While the case has been previously polished, it maintains its original proportions and strong silhouette. The bezel remains sharp, preserving the defined "fluted" texture without appearing rounded or over-polished.

The watch is fitted with a genuine Rolex Jubilee bracelet featuring a clasp with the code "N1", dating its production to circa 1989. While the reference 1601 originally shipped with folded-link bracelets, this later-generation Jubilee was likely added during a professional service, offering a more robust feel. The bracelet shows a degree of stretch that is entirely typical for its age, ensuring a comfortable fit while maintaining its structural security and classic visual appeal.

Performance Log
Upon arrival, every watch is verified for authenticity. The movement is then completely disassembled, and each individual component is cleaned. Once reassembled and lubricated, the timepiece undergoes a rigorous 72-hour test in all dynamic positions.

The technical values listed below are merely a snapshot recorded in the "Dial Up" position. Variations in amplitude or rate compared to modern standards are physiological for vintage timepieces.

Furthermore, strictly adhering to our philosophy of preservation, we prioritize retaining original components whenever possible, even if this results in slightly lower performance metrics, provided they do not compromise the reliability and correct functioning of the timepiece.
